The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has levied a penalty of Rs 5 lakh on a subsidiary of Godrej Properties for its failure to implement environmental safety measures during construction activities at its project site in the city.
Godrej Properties, in a regulatory filing, revealed that its subsidiary, Godrej Vestamark LLP, received an official order on October 16 under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act of 1957.
The subsidiary’s infringement pertains to “non-compliance with the directives outlined in the National Green Tribunal’s order dated April 10, 2015, as well as the Ministry of Environment and Forests Guidelines of 2010. These directives relate to the precautions necessary while conducting construction work at its project in New Delhi,” according to the filing.
Godrej Properties is a prominent real estate company in India with a significant presence in key regions such as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Delhi-NCR, Pune, and Bengaluru.
