Madrid Court announced the Order of imprisonment of France and Bayern Munich defending footballer Lucas Hernandez for violation of a restraining order given in 2017.
Hernandez, 2018 World Cup winner, summoned to appear before the Court but he has appealed against the sentence. He has 10 days from October 19 to enter prison ‘voluntarily’.
In Spain, those who are sentenced to less than two years do not usually go to prison, but, in Hernandez’s case, it was a repeated offence, he has been ordered to.
The Player was arrested four years ago for violating a Court Order that banned him from contacting his girlfriend after a violent quarrel between them. In December 2019, he was sentenced to six month in prison for breaking restraining order.
Hernandez got arrested after his girlfriend was taken to hospital with minor injuries followed by a fight in 2017. Neither made a complaint against each other, but Spain’s Prosecutor charged them.
A few months later, Hernandez was arrested at the Madrid Airport in the company of his partner, who was not arrested as her own restraining order had not yet formally served.
