The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court recently give its nod to girl who is willing to live with her companion, a transman. The family of woman were against her relationship and separated the couple.
The Division Bench comprising of Justices P.N. Prakash and R. Hemalatha was hearing the plea filed by the transman who complained that the woman’s family had detained her against her will with the sole intention of preventing them from continuing the relationship.
The petitioner said they know each other and are in relationship for more than a year. They have even married each other and decided to live together. Still, the woman’s family haven’t accepted their relationship and forcibly separated them. The woman is illegally confined by her family members.
The petitioner has also lodged complaint with the police, but to no avail. The petitioner submitted that she is adult and has liberty to chose her life partner. Hence, seeks adequate directions from the Court.
Taking note of the fact that the woman was willing to go with her companion, the court set her at liberty and closed the petition.
