The Law Ministry has announced that the E-Committees have ensured to feature the Disabled-Friendly functions on all High Courts websites.
These functions include visual captchas along with text/audio captchas making the website content easily accessible to disabled persons.
“The task of making the digital infrastructure of the Indian Judicial system more accessible to persons with disabilities has been a core component of the work of the E-Committee, Supreme Court of India, in the last few months. A significant milestone that the E-Committee’s efforts towards this objective have yielded has been to ensure that all High Court websites now have captchas which are accessible to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs),” the Ministry said.
The High Court websites primarily use visual captchas to safeguard its essential content, such as judgements, orders, cause lists, which could only be accessed by humans and not let spambots break-in.
Making it accessible for visually challenged persons, High courts websites have accompanied visual captchas with text or audio captchas.
The E-Committee of the Supreme Court is headed by Justice DY Chandrachud.
The E-Committee is underway in creating a Judgement Search Portal in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC), for easy accessibility for disabled people.
