On February 7, 2022, the Bombay High Court suspended all its Judicial Proceedings for the day across all its Benches in the honour of the Nightingale of India.
An Official statement stated that the Subordinate Courts in Maharashtra, South and North Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu and Silvassa will remain closed for the day.
February 7 was declared as a public holiday by the Maharashtra Government to mourn the demise of Lata Mangeshkar. Also, the Centre announced a two-day national mourning in the memory of the iconic singer.
As a symbol of respect to Lata Mangeshkar, who was conferred with the Bharat Ratna, the Indian National Flag will fly at half-mast from February 6-7 throughout the country.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also decided to keep all its branches closed for the day. It will not carry out any transactions related to government securities, foreign exchange, and money markets.
Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022 as a result of multiple organ failure at the age of 92. She was admitted in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai on January 8 after she got diagnosed with Covid-19 and Pneumonia.
She was cremated with State Honours at Shivaji Park, Dadar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray attended the last rites of the singer. Several other celebrities and political leaders also attended the last rites and paid their tribute to the singer.
