Kerala POCSO Case: Report submitted by U.K. Sharafuddin to Court

A report of a well-known 68-year-old businessman in Thalassery has been submitted to the Court by the Medical Board, who is accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The businessman residing at Good Shed Road in Thalassery was alleged to sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in June 2021. However, he claimed to be sexually inactive with a Certificate of Sexual Fitness obtained from the Thalassery General Hospital.

The certificate also mentioned that he is suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure and is unlikely to be sexually active in any case. 

After being ordered a re-examination of the Certificate and formation of the Medical Board by Thalassery First Additional District Sessions Court Judge A.V. Mrudula, it was found that the person is sexually active and has no dysfunction. 

Mr. Sharafuddin, who is the third accused in the case, is currently out on bail. Along with the businessmen, his two other relatives are co-accused in the present case for sexually abusing the girl.

Special Prosecutor Beena Kaliyath said that Action would be recommended against the doctor at the general hospital who reported that Mr. Sharafuddin faced sexual dysfunction”
