The IAS officer couple, Tina Dabi and her husband Athar Amir Khan is now separated after getting a legal divorce.
The couple got divorced from the Family Court of Jaipur. They had filed for divorce on mutual consent last year, in November. The Court has granted them divorce under Section 28 of the Special Marriage Act.
Section 28 of the Special Marriage Act states that if the couple is not living separately for a year or more than one year and things are not working in between them and, they have mutually decided to end the matrimony can approach the Court.
The 2016 IAS batch topper got married to the second rank holder of the 2015 UPSC civil services examination on March 20, 2018, in Jaipur.
Their marriage became controversial when Hindu Mahasabha termed it as ‘love jihad’. ‘Love jihad’ is a phrase used by the rightwing to describe the practice done by Muslim men to reel in Hindu women and force them to convert to their religion.
Afterward, Mrs. Dabi had said that she was not affected by the uproar and that her marriage was above religious divides.
