On January 4, 2022 a Complaint against former Member of Parliament Mohammad Adeeb was registered by the Gurugram Police. The Complaint was filed by the founder of a Hindu extremist group called Bharat Mata Vahini, who Accused Mr. Adeeb and two others of disrupting communal harmony. Based on the Complaint, the Gurugram Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the former Member of Parliament.
The Founder of Bharat Mata Vahini named Dinesh Bharti has been involved in protests against the offering of namaz in public places. The Petitioner stated that he found out through a Hindi newspaper that the Accused persons planned to construct a mosque by encroaching land in Sector 40 of Gurugram and Kanhai Village, he also Alleged that the encroachment is for the construction of graveyards.
The Petitioner stated, “Land grabbing and encroachment and misuse of public land are our key issues …They [Accused] are misleading people and trying to disrupt communal harmony.”
The Petitioner Dinesh Bharti, Accused three persons in the aforementioned Complaint, who are namely- Former Member of Rajya Sabha Mohammad Adeeb, President of Jamiat Ulema e Hind Gurgaon Mufti Mohammad Saleem Qasmi and one Abdul Haseeb Qasmi. The three Accused persons are members of Gurgaon Muslim Council.
Earlier Mohammad Adeeb had approached the Supreme Court of India and had sought ‘Contempt Proceedings’ against Director General of Haryana Police and Chief Secretary of Haryana Government who did not take any kind of actions against the protesters from Hindutva group who prohibited the Muslims in Gurugram from performing weekly namaz on Fridays.
