A fire broke out in the Courtroom of an Additional Sessions Judge at the Karkardooma Court in East Delhi.
The fire broke out in Courtroom number 52 of the Additional Sessions Judge Manjusha Badhwa and in the corridor of the second floor of the five-storey building. The firefighting system was not working at the time when the incident took place.
The Fire Department received a call around 3:25 a.m. An Official stated that six fire tenders were sent to the spot initially but six more were sent later to control the fire. Around 50 firemen had been working for around two hours. No casualties were reported in this incident but several Court documents and furniture were destroyed.
Atul Garg, the Delhi Fire Service Director stated that the fire was brought under control around 5:20 a.m. He stated, “The fire was reported in the Courtroom number 52 of Additional Sessions Judge and the corridor on the second floor.”
The Officials stated that the cause of the fire is being ascertained. But it was suspected that a short circuit near the Courtroom had later spread to the corridor.
In another incident, fire broke out in eight shops in outer Delhi’s Banwana area. The Fire Department was informed about the incident around 3:15 a.m.
Six fire engines were sent to the spot and the fire was extinguished by 4:10 a.m. No injuries were reported in this incident.
