In Madhya Pradesh, a FIR has been filed against 11 people, including social activist Medha Patkar, for allegedly misusing donation funds.
The Barwani police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) filed by a complainant by the name of Pritam Raj Badole alleging that the woman deceived people by impersonating as a social worker who works to provide primary education to tribal children in Madhya Pradesh and Mahashtra as well as residential living schools for educational purposes.
The Narmada Navnirman Abhiyan trust had received Rs 13 crores in the previous 14 years, whose source and expenditure were unknown, the police learned during the preliminary investigation.
According to the allegation, during the investigation, cash worth more than Rs 1.5 crore that had an unclear audit for withdrawal and expenditure was found. The complainant claimed that more than Rs 4 crore had been recovered from the Trust’s 10 bank accounts.
The FIR also charged Patkar with misleading the court by presenting a yearly salary of Rs 6,000 while having Rs 19 lakh recovered from her savings account. However the police booked Patkar, they chose not to comment on the situation.
The activist has now refuted all of the accusations levelled against her and stated that, despite the fact that she has not received any official notification from the police, she is prepared to respond to each and every one of them.
Patkar asserted that the complaint is connected to both the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) “We have the audit report available for every query regarding the financial status. We had won the case against the Delhi LG as we do not accept foreign money and always audit our bank accounts. Even in the future, we will keep answering and submitting the evidence. The complainant is a member of ABVP and is connected with RSS.”
