Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, has approached the Court seeking regular bail in the Delhi Excise policy money laundering case. Additionally, he has requested custody parole for two days each week to meet his ailing wife.
The application, heard by Special Judge M. K Nagpal at Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday, has prompted the Court to issue a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED has been given until February 2, 2024, to respond to the application.
Advocate Mohd. Irshad and Rajat Jain represented Manish Sisodia during the court proceedings. The Court took note that the first application pertains to Sisodia’s regular bail (second bail application), while the second application seeks custody parole to allow him to meet his ailing wife for two days every week. Similar applications have also been filed in CBI cases.
Manish Sisodia, currently in custody, faces charges in connection with the Delhi Liquor scam. The Supreme Court dismissed his bail petition on October 30.
Earlier bail applications were rejected by both the High Court and the trial court on May 30 of the previous year.
While Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26, the ED arrested him on March 9. The ED alleges that the accused’s activities have led to the generation of proceeds of crime amounting to approximately Rs 622 crore in the Delhi Excise policy cases. Sisodia was granted custody parole on Diwali, November 10, 2023, to visit his ailing wife.
