Delhi High Court has decided not to interfere with Naresh Sharma’s non-selection for Tokyo Paralympics.
However, the Court has ordered the Sports Authority of India and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs to examine this case.
In the ambit of Tokyo Paralympics, the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) didn’t select Arjuna Award-winning shooter, Naresh Sharma. Naresh Sharma recently approached the Delhi High Court, challenging his non-selection.
A single bench of Justice Rekha Palli decided not to intervene and handed over this matter to the Sports Ministry.

The petitioner’s lawyer contended that the selection done by the committee was biased, and his place of selection was given to another candidate Deepak, based on arbitrary favoritism.
Advocate Naresh Kumar representing PCI responded that the petitioner voluntarily disagreed to participate in the Grand Prix event, which was held in Serbia, whereas Deepak’s selection was done on the purview of his performance, and he had scored the highest score in the relevant category.
The Court concluded that shooter Deepak’s participation in the Grand Prix as per PCI’s selection could not be faulted, as they were acting upon the instructions of their parent body.
