The High Court of Delhi on Friday 10th September, 2021 sought CBI’s reply on bail of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s lawyer Anand Daga in corruption case.
Justice Yogesh Khanna issued a notice on the plea and a further hearing is to take place on September 10,2021. The development came after Daga’s bail application was rejected by Special CBI Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav earlier this week.
Anand Daga was arrested for trying to overthrow the Bombay High Court and has directed initiatory enquiry against Anil Deshmukh.
A Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court had rejected the bail application of Anand Daga, stating that the investigation was still unresolved.
On orders of the Bombay High Court, the CBI initiated a Preliminary Enquiry that issued the direction during the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) hearing of corruption against Anil Deshmukh.
Anil Deshmukh has been booked by the CBI along with other unidentified individuals under IPC Sections related to criminal conspiracy and Section 7 and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Accusations against Anil Deshmukh sprung up after removal of Mumbai Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The FIR claimed that he and others exercised undue influence over the posting and transfer of officials.
