On Thursday, the Delhi High Court requested Google’s answer to a lawsuit brought by the online gaming site Winzo challenging the company’s choice to only accept Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) and rummy apps in its recently announced limited-time pilot program for the Google Play Store.

According to Winzo, all skill-based games should be eligible for the Google Play listing.

The search engine behemoth was contacted by Justice Pratibha M. Singh for comment regarding a motion for temporary relief.

Google launched the Play Store Pilot on September 7.

In accordance with the plan, starting on September 28th, only Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) and rummy games apps would be permitted on its play store.

Google LLC’s attorney raised an objection to the suit’s maintainability during today’s hearing on the grounds that it didn’t contain any issues with Intellectual Property Rights or the Information Technology Laws.

The court believed that it was important to take the suit’s maintainability into account.

The case has been scheduled for hearing in November as a result.

Winzo has fought to prevent Google from enforcing the aforementioned regulation, arguing that doing so will harm the company’s reputation.

Winzo argues that Google’s most recent policy, which grants “unparallel access to 2.5 billion monthly active users across 190 countries where the Google Play Store is available” which “may cause distortions in the conditions of the Indian gaming ecosystem.”
