The Delhi High Court on Thursday denied considering a plea wanting a reduction of the 12-16 weeks gap pertaining to the 2nd dose of Covisheild vaccine to and bring it down to 8 weeks for people over 50 years of age and those suffering from comorbidities.
”We are not inclined to issue notice. We will dismiss with costs,” said a bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh on a PIL by Dr. Siddharth De.
“Are you aware of any procedure? How are doses fixed? Who is fixing the doses? We will have to alter the procedure if at all we have the power to do so “, the Court questioned.
To which the counsel for De, advocate Kuldeep Jauhari replied based on studies conducted by scientists in the UK, there was a need to reduce the dosage interval in view of the new variants of COVID-19.
The two-judge bench came to the final conclusion that Johri was unable to convince them which made the latter to withdraw the petition unconditionally and thus the gap between 2 doses of Covisheild remains unchanged i.e., 12 to 16 weeks.
