The Delhi High Court denied issuing an order for directing the authorities to extend the last date for completion of a one-year internship which is considered to be compulsory and which makes a candidate enable to write the NEET-PG.
NEET-PG is scheduled to be held on September 11.
The petition was filed by a Medical student, who wants to pursue a PG degree but his one-year compulsory internship will complete on 25th October.
The High Court observed that issuing directions might lead to an uncertain and unmanageable situation as there may be several candidates who may miss the cut-off by a whisker.
The Court also referred to a judgement pronounced by the High Court of Madras in which the same issue of NEET-PG 2021 was discussed.
The Court while dismissing the petition stated “I am in respectful agreement with the view taken by the Madras High Court, which is also consistent with the binding precedents of this court. For these reasons, the writ petition, along with the pending application, is dismissed.”
