A Delhi Court Summoned 4 BJP Leaders, including Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta, in a Criminal Defamation Case filed by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Vice – Chairman Raghav Chadha.

Chadha professed that the latter made Defamatory statements on the public platform asserting a scam of Rs. 26,000 crore in DJB.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmendra Singh, passed an Order on Thursday and Summoned Gupta, Delhi MLAs Ranvir Singh Bidhuri and Vijendra Gupta and BJP’s Delhi unit spokesperson Harish Khurana in the Defamation Case.

The Court observed that there were enough grounds for Proceedings opposing the respondents and thus Summoned them under Section 500 (punishment for defamation) and 33(common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Court stated that “It was relevant to note that Chadha, in his testimony, stated that he was informed by the DJB’s Office of Consultant Law, as per the records available in the Law Office, no notice from the Court of Law or notice from any of the Investigating Agency has been made to the law office of the board with respect to the allegations made by the respondents.”

The Court inferred that the respondents instead of approaching the Investigating Agency that is competent to Investigate the corruption cases, made all the allegations in the public domain.
