FMCG giant Dabur has been served with a notice from GST authorities, requiring the payment of Rs 320.60 crore in taxes, along with associated penalties and interest.

This demand notice, issued by the Gurugram Zonal Unit of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) on October 16, stipulates that a show-cause notice will be issued if the company fails to pay the tax.

In response, Dabur has indicated its intention to challenge the demand notice, stating that it will do so based on strong merits by filing its replies and submissions with the relevant authorities.

The company emphasized that this tax demand notice will not significantly impact its financial, operational, or other activities. Any impact will be limited to the final tax liability, along with any associated interest and penalties that may be determined.

Dabur filed this regulatory update just before the stock market closed, with its shares closing at Rs 540.60 apiece on the BSE at the end of the day.
