The Delhi High Court sought response of the Delhi Government and North Delhi Municipal Corporation on a Plea for taking necessary steps to control the Dengue Outbreak similar to regular fogging, forming inspection teams to check any growth of mosquito larvae, imposing penalties on the violation.
Justice Rekha Pali granted a week’s time to concerned authorities to file their status report in the matter and listed the Plea for further hearing.
According to the Appeal, the Petitioner is afraid that her children and old folks would contract dengue fever, which can be deadly at their age.
Anuj Aggarwal, the Delhi government’s additional standing counsel, said the authorities are taking the required efforts to limit the city’s dengue epidemic.
A Petitioner from Model Town of North Delhi who also is suffering from dengue said that the area is facing the outbreak of Dengue like the rest of the city is, and this is due to the negligence of the authorities.
Ananya Kumar requested authorities to take appropriate steps to control a dengue outbreak in the area surrounding her home, including “regular fogging of the area, door-to-door awareness campaign, formation of teams to inspect dengue larvae on the premises/area to invite penalty for violation, and issue dengue helpline numbers.”
According to the report on the vector-borne disease, nine deaths and a total of 2,708 Dengue cases have been registered in Delhi.
