The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids to bust the nexus between Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) receiving or keen to receive foreign funding. It was done after Home Secretary A K Bhalla, acting on Orders of Home Minister Amit Shah, sent a detailed note to CBI in March this year, pointing to three such Foreign Contribution Regulation Act clearance networks.

The note of March 29, 2022, said the three networks, having linkages with Government Officials, were charging ‘speed money’ or ‘problem resolution money’ to expedite Foreign Contribution Regulation Act nods and resolve issues regarding Foreign Contribution Regulation Act clearances and formalities, respectively.

The letter from Home Secretary communicated to Jaiswal the approval of the competent authority to CBI for investigating the matter and taking necessary action.

The Home Secretary’s letter followed upon being informed of the alleged networks involving NGO and government servants, took a serious view of the Matter and Ordered immediate and strictest possible action.

On Tuesday, the CBI conducted nationwide Raids across 40 Locations in Delhi, Rajasthan, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Mysore to nab representatives of the NGO, middlemen and Public Servants.
