The Calcutta High Court issued a notice under Rule 24 of the Election Petition Rules, 1967, to the necessary parties in connection with the petition filed by All India Trinamool Congress Leader Sangram Kumar Dolai, challenging the election win of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ashoke Dinda from Moyna Assembly constituency, in pursuant to the poll election.
Hearing the petition of TMC leader Sangram Dolai, Justice Tirthankar Ghosh stated that, “Prima facie, a case had been made out for issuance of notice against the respondent.”
After the defeat of Trinamool Leader Sangram Dolai against BJP’s Ashoke Dinda by 1260 votes in Moyna Constituency, he filed a petition for alleged irregularities in counting.
At the hearing of the matter, the Counsel representing Sangram Dolai has alleged Ashoke Dinda for entering the assembly polls by deception and adopting corrupt practices during elections.
The further proceeding of the matter will be held on July 9.
Earlier, the Calcutta High court took up four election petitions filed by the Trinamool Congress Candidates, Alorani Sarkar, Sangram Kumar Dolai, Manas Majumder and Shantiram Mahato, who has lost to BJP in the West Bengal Assembly Polls 2021 in their respective constituencies, when results declared by the Election Commission.
All four petitions are to be taken up by the court for further proceedings in late June and July.
