Despite Britney Spears’ shocking testimony, last week, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge dismissed the singer’s lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III motions to have Jamie Spears removed as her daughter’s co-conservator.
On June 23, Ms Spears informed a judge that the conservatorship was “abusive” and that she wanted it to end without a medical evaluation.
The mother of two said she was compelled to wear a contraceptive device and that she was prevented from marrying boyfriend Sam Asghari.
Jamie was declared conservator of Britney’s estate in 2008, according to E! News, when the singer had a public breakdown. Last year, Bessemer Trust Company, a wealth management organization, joined Jamie as a co-conservator of the estate.
Britney’s impassioned public speech during the Virtual Court hearing about her conservatorship on June 23 led to this decision. During her hearing, the 39-year-old singer slammed her father, alleging that he liked the power to punish his daughter.
Jamie’s lawyer stated at the time saying, “Mr Spears is heartbroken to see his daughter in such distress. He adores his daughter and longs for her return.”
Jamie filed a petition on Tuesday requesting an investigation into Britney’s complaints of mistreatment while under her conservatorship. Jamie also stated that he has not been in charge of his daughter’s personal or medical matters for the previous two years.
An earlier attempt by Britney’s legal team to suspend Jamie as conservator of her estate was denied by the Court in November 2020. The judge also decided that Bessemer Trust Company will join Jamie as a co-conservator at that time.
Britney’s lawyer will file another motion soon to remove Jamie as the actress wants him to be out entirely.
In a related development, Bessemer Trust is presently functioning as a co-conservator to Britney’s estate because certain documents must be filed before the judge’s ruling takes effect.
As a result, Jamie has been and continues the only conservator of Britney’s estate for the time being.
