The Congress on January 7th, 2022 , Alleged that BJP is utilising the hidden “Tek Fog” app to hijack significant social media networks and bypass encrypted communications platforms. Further the Congress demanded an explanation from the Union government and requested the Supreme Court to Investigate into the matter .
Supriya Shrinate, a spokesperson for the Congress, Accused the BJP of using the app to magnify its messages and agenda on social media, as well as to aim those who oppose the saffron party, which includes reporters.
Furthermore it was reported that the secret app, which can hijack the ‘Trending’ section of Twitter and the ‘Trend’ section of Facebook, phish ‘Inactive’ WhatsApp accounts, and use a database of private individuals for harassment and bullying.
“The government is clearly working in conjunction with Tek Fog . The BJP, in particular, is joining hands with Tek Fog, and what is India’s Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications up to? Why hasn’t the Ministry realised how dire the situation is?” Shrinate inquired during a press conference.
She claimed the government was evasive about using Pegasus to spy on people, such as politicians and media, and the Supreme Court is currently investigating the matter.
“I would urge the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of this report because it focuses Indian citizens and undermines the certain foundation of our democracy,” she said, noting that the Court is already Investigating the Pegasus Case.
