An Anti-terrorist Court in Pakistan granted Bail to several leaders of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) under a bundle of cases registered under Sections related to terrorism.
In addition to the wave of clashes that broke out between TLP workers and security personnel in Punjab Province, the terrorists who were given Bail were booked under Sections connected to terrorism.
The Court directed all the TLP leaders to submit bonds of Rs. 1,00,000 each. The TLP leaders were assured by the Pakistan Government would not pursue minor cases against them, but cases registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act would be decided by the Court.
The Government also assured the TLP that steps would be taken to lift the ban on them.
Following days of violent rallies demanding the release of TLP leader Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi and the expulsion of the French envoy for publishing blasphemous cartoons, the current step is considered as part of a secret bargain between the Pakistani government and the proscribed organization.
Judges Ijaz Ahmed Butter and Hussain Bhutta heard Bail petitions in more than 20 cases, according to the report.
On October 31, a team of Pakistani negotiators led by senior clerics claimed to have achieved a deal with the banned outfit but declined to reveal any details.
According to a statement published by the Punjab Home Department, 860 TLP employees who were imprisoned under the MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) were released last week.
