The Allahabad High Court while dealing with a plea made an important observation that the administration of the Government Advocates’ office should run on the principles of accountability and not appeasement.
The vacation bench headed by Justice Ajay Bhanot observed that the orders passed by the Court are not being taken seriously, noting that as per the Court’s orders in a case, State Government has failed to produce an affidavit before the Court.
It was informed in the Court that, “The concerned counsels for the State had apparently not informed the police authorities about the order passed by the Court.”
Noting the submissions in the Court, the bench stated that, “Failure of Court’s order was on account of negligence shown by the counsels for the State. The high-ranking police officials had to be summoned for no fault of theirs.”
Subsequently, the Court directed the State Government of U.P. to show cause regarding the failure on his part to comply with the orders passed by the Court. Also, the State Government of U.P. is asked to appear in person before the Court on August 2, 2021.
