Covington & Burling Partners’ top lead litigators to represent the lawsuit filed by social media giant ‘TikTok’ and its parent company ByteDance Ltd. The lawsuit is filed against the Executive order passed by Pres. Donald J. Trump banning the operation of TikTok and WeChat in the United States.
Covington & Burling LLP is an international firm with head office in Washington D.C. Covington’s team for the current lawsuit includes four partners. These partners include Covington’s global litigation practice chair ‘John E. Hall’, firm’s Trail lawyer and co-chair of commercial litigation practice group ‘Mitchell A. Kamin’, co-chair of the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Group ‘Beth S. Brinkmann’, and ‘Alexander A. Berengaut’
TikTok in its complaint in the Federal Court of Los Angeles called the Executive order a pretext to fuel anti-china rhetoric as Pres. Trump seeks election. TikTok rejected the claim made in Executive Order alleging the company ‘a national security threat’ and stated that the company had taken ‘extraordinary measures to protect the privacy and security of TikTok users’ data.
