Hopewell Chin’ono, a prominent Zimbabwe journalist, who was imprisoned, was sent to isolation after the likeliness of him getting exposed to COVID-19 was emerged.

He was arrested for the third time within five months.

Chin’ono was arrested by the Zimbabwe police on Friday after he had tweeted about the police allegedly beating an infant for non-compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.

Police had later explained that it was a false claim.

His lawyers, however, argued that the Zimbwawean journalist’s arrest was illegal. The court couldn’t finish the hearing and so ordered his remand.

The Magistrate will hear the case further on January 11.

Chin’ono had earlier published Tweets alleging corruption of over $60 million in the purchase of protective equipment for health workers.
