The United States is keeping itself in touch with India pertaining to the over-the-horizon capabilities and plans, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured on Monday.
These plans aim in making identification and striking terrorists with aerial surveillance and drones which would be launched outside the country.
After the repercussions of the Afghanistan withdrawal and evacuation, the White House promised to the American citizens an ‘over-the-horizon’ strategy in order to fight transnational terrorism threats originating from Afghanistan.
Congressman Mark Green of Tennessee said “I’m talking Northwest India as a potential because we all know, Qatar, and are the Doha the other places are just a little bit too far, Kuwait, all that. What about Northern India and have you reached out, have you thought about that.”
Blinken responded, “Let me just say generally Congressman, we’re deeply engaged with India, across the board, with regard though to any specifics about over the horizon capabilities and the plans that we put in place, it will continue to put in place.”
Green cherished Blinken’s response and said, “I am glad to at least know that there’s an opportunity to talk.”
“I think that’s very fair and I appreciate you saying that and I’m glad to at least know that there’s an opportunity to talk about that because I think that, from my standpoint is an opportunity we should, we should seize,” he further added.
The Biden administration’s ‘over-the-horizon’ strategy is being criticized in Afghanistan. It’s making everyone including the lawmakers and counterterrorism experts ask several questions.
It’s being said that Biden and his team have failed to give a detailed explanation about the strategy.
Later this month, United States President Joe Biden and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi have scheduled quad leaders meeting in Washington.
