The President of India has appointed Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath as the acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
In exercise of the powers under Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the Centre notified that Justice Ravi Malimath will assume his charges of office as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court with effect from 1st July 2021.
Upon the retirement of Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy, Chief Justice, Himachal High Court, Article 223 of the Constitution of India came into effect. Justice Malimath will perform his duties as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The Notification issued in this regard states:
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Ravi Malimath, Senior-most Judge of the Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 1st July 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy, Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court.”
