The Coimbatore All Women Police filed a Revision Petition before the Principal District Judge Court against transferring the case to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in connection with the alleged Rape of a woman IAF officer by her colleague in September.

The Coimbatore Police have also demanded seven days of custody of Flight Lieutenant Amitesh Harmukh.

The Revision plea comes after a Mahila Court in Coimbatore directed the District Police to transfer the matter to the IAF for a Court martial on September 30.

A Senior Officer of the City Police stated, “The plea filed before the District Court basically challenges the custody of the accused which the IAF claimed under Section 124 of the Air Force Act, 1950, which deals with the choice between criminal court and court-martial.”

The FIR filed by the Coimbatore Police quoted the woman officer (victim) herself stated that she was subjected to the “Two-finger Test by IAF authorities.

But the Chief of the IAF has refuted the allegations.

On September 10, Amitesh Harmukh of Durg, Chhattisgarh, was arrested on allegations of raping a woman colleague at the Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) near Red Fields in Coimbatore.

On September 26, he was remanded in Judicial Custody and lodged in the Udumalpet sub-Jail.
