TRP Scam: Arnab Goswami filed Plea in Bombay High Court for CBI Probe

In a recent development in alleged TRP Scam Republic TV parent company ARG Outlier filed a plea in Bombay High Court for CBI Probe and quashing F.I.R registered by Mumbai Police against Republic TV.

Few days back, Supreme Court has directed Republic TV parent company ARG Outlier to move Bombay High Court first in this matter.

The Fresh Plea challenging the FIR filed by the Mumbai police in relation to alleged fake Television Rating Points scam.

The Republic TV parent company ARG Outlier Plea seeks quashing of the FIR against Republic TV and Arnab Goswami and praying the transfer of investigation proceedings from Mumbai Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Republic TV also sought directions in the Plea to initiate a CBI enquiry against Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh as well as initiate disciplinary proceedings against him for abuse of power.

Republic has also sought interim protection against any likely coercive action like questioning and investigating by the Crime Branch against the members of the channel.

Republic TV parent company ARG Outlier Prayed in the Plea with grounds in the petition

Republic TV network sought transfer of investigation to the CBI anticipating a pre-determined and biased investigation by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police.

They have challenged the FIR believing that they have been falsely implicated in connection of the FIR as they have been in the forefront of exposing shortcomings of the Maharashtra Government and the Mumbai Police in recent investigations of Sushant Singh Rajput and Palghar lynching incident.

They have pleaded that Republic was deliberately not mentioned in the FIR to preclude them from availing any remedies.

That based on the statements of Singh in the press briefing of October 8, Republic channel employees have a fear of apprehension by the Mumbai Police.

Mumbai Police reportedly began investigation of the alleged roles of a few news channels in connection with the FIR including Republic TV and its employees.
