BACKGROUND – Arabail Shivaram Hebbar is an Indian politician who is the Minister of Labour Department of Karnataka. He is an MLA from Yellapur. He was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Yellapura in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly election of 2018 as a member of the Indian National Congress but switched to Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019 and won the by-elections in December 2019.
He was born and brought up by Mahabaleshwar Hebbar in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. He is also an agriculturist and a businessman.
MAJOR INITIATIVES – Arabail Shivaram Hebbar is committed towards the interest of labourers and hence has been formulating meaningful and concrete programmes, in this context, the funds meant for the benefit of the labourers have been directly credited to the account of the labourers.
The department have taken steps to conduct a survey of labourers including those who are in construction sector. The primary goal is to provide relief to the families of labourers well in time in order to mitigate their problems.
In the present atmosphere of global crisis on account of Covid-19, the department under the leadership of Arabail Shivaram Hebbar have given fillip to the departmental activities in order to make government labour-friendly. The entire department has been involved in providing relief and succor in the form of food packets and water to the distressed labour. The Department of Labour made transport arrangements, provided food packets and water to the migrant labourers who were returning to their native places.
