Three Members of the Nihang Sikhs were sent to six days in Police Custody after being detained in connection with the lynching of a Dalit Labourer at a Farmers’ Protest site.
The District and Sessions Court in Sonipat remanded the three Nihangs in the alleged Murder of Lakhbir Singh, a Dalit farm labourer.
The three suspects allegedly admitted to the Murder, citing “Desecration” of the Sacred Sikh Book as the motivation.
The Police had requested a 14-day Remand in order to identify more suspects in the Case and collect Murder Weapons.
The Police have so far found two Swords that were reportedly used in the Crime. The first was allegedly recovered from Narain Singh, while the second was supposedly recovered from Sarabjit Singh.
During the Remand, the Police will endeavor to recover further Weapons.
Lakhbir Singh, a Dalit farm labourer from Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, was found with his Left hand and Right foot cut off tied to a Police Barricade near the Singhu Farm Protest site on the outskirts of the Capital.
Police said the claim of Desecration of the Holy Book is yet to be verified.
