A Delhi Court has granted interim protection to environmental activist Subham Kar Chaudhuri in the Farmers Protest Tooklit Case filed against him by the Cyber Crime Cell of Delhi Police.
Adjourning the matter for further hearing on March 15, Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana said,
“In the mean time, no coercive action is to be made against the accused.”
Previously, Chaudhuri was allowed a 10-day transit bail by the Bombay High Court.
Additional Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed submitted before the Court that the anticipatory bail pleas of the co-accused in the matter Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk were listed for hearing on March 15, 2021.
Advocate Soutik Banerjee, appearing on behalf of Chaudhari, stated that his interim protection limit will be ending on March 12, 2021.
Banerjee further added that Chaudhari’s case is not similar to the other accused in the matter by reason of fact that his involvement in the matter only relates to his association with the group called “Extinction Rebellion”.
He had not altered or formed the toolkit, Banerjee claimed.
Additional Public Prosecutor Ahmed said that the prosecution had no objections concerning the extension of interim protection application filed by Chaudhari until further hearings.
The interim protection bail allowed to Jacob and Muluk by Delhi Court additionally reaches a conclusion on March 15.
