Today Delhi Police received a call from Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal who alleged that she was assaulted at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

The National Commission for Women has taken a proactive stance following reports of an alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. In response to the incident purportedly occurring at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence, the NCW has announced its intention to launch an inquiry. Expressing solidarity with Maliwal, the NCW has demanded swift action from the Delhi Police, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Maliwal, a Member of Parliament representing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, has lodged a complaint at the Civil Lines police station. She alleges that a member of Arvind Kejriwal’s personal staff assaulted her on the instructions of the Chief Minister. Despite the gravity of the allegations, the police have yet to receive a formal complaint.

DCP (North) Manoj Meena confirmed receiving a PCR call regarding the incident but stated that no formal complaint has been lodged thus far. The AAP leader has indicated her intent to file a formal complaint subsequently.

The NCW’s decision to intervene underscores the importance of addressing violence against women in positions of authority. As the inquiry unfolds, attention will remain focused on ensuring justice and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
