A plea has been submitted before the Supreme Court condemning the Income Tax department’s say of refuting Karti Chidambaram’s request of asking for the release from prosecution held in 2018 for having allegedly evaded capital gains tax in the assessment year 2014-15.
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for senior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s son, said that the findings of the high courts were in his favour. The Supreme Court must consider it.
The Court has asked the I-T department to file a response in the tax evasion plea.
The bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and R. Subhash Reddy ordered the copy of the plea to be submitted to the SG.
Also, the bench has issued a notice and gave two weeks to submit the response.
