The Two Rizwan Ahmed and Mohsin Sayyed, accused of propagandizing youths from Malwani in Malad to join the Islamic State (ISIS), orally pleaded guilty on Thursday before the special National Investigation Agency Court.
The Special NIA Judge A T Wankhede demanded them to submit an Affidavit in that concern on the next date of Hearing.
The Counsel for the Accused, Wahab Khan and Sharif Shaikh, dissatisfied with the voluntary action of the Accused, with the permission of the Court withdrew their Vakalatnama.
The Counsel further highlighted that the accused pleaded guilty on their own despite the advice of the Advocates. Furthermore, the Legal Cell Jamiat Ulama E Maharashtra, providing legal aid to the Accused, withdrew the same with immediate effect. As on date, 39 prosecution witnesses have been investigated in the case.
Ahmed and Sayyed are facing Trial for radicalising youths, Ayaz Sultan, Mohsin, Abdul Bashir and Noor Mohammad from Malwani, to join the Islamic State in 2015.
The Investigating Agencies highlighted that Ahmed was the second-in-command of the ISIS wing in India.
It came to light through the prosecution that there are more than 220 witnesses in the case.
Earlier, Ahmed had alleged that he was a child in 2013 when the claimed instigation of Accused Aryaz Mohamed had started.
Previously, the prosecution had claimed that Sayyed, along with Noor Mohammad, a carpenter and Wajid Shaikh, son of a vegetable seller, were missing in December 2015 and the three had decided to join ISIS.
The Bombay High Court on September 30 had reserved its Judgment in Rizwan Ahmed’s Bail Plea, which it will pronounce in due course.
