The Collegium of Supreme Court of India held its meeting for 3 days i.e. on 6th, 7th and 8th Octobers, 2021.
In its meeting, the Collegium gave the approval of the proposed appointment of 23 Additional Judges/Advocates/Judicial Officers as Judges across 6 High Courts.
The list of the Judges appointed to their respective High Court are:
- Madras High Court– Shri J. Sathya Narayana Prasad, who is an Advocate now has been suggested for a Judge in Madras High Court.
- Rajasthan High Court– There are 5 people who has been elevated as Judges of Rajasthan High Court:
- Shri Kuldeep Mathur, who is an Advocate.
- Shri Maneesh Sharma, who is an Advocate.
- Ms. Rekha Borana, who is an Advocate.
- Shri Sameer Jain, who is an Advocate.
- Smt. Shubha Mehta, who is a Judicial Officer.
- Allahabad High Court– Shri Manu Khare, who is an Advocate now has been elevated as a Judge in Allahabad High Court
- Karnataka High Court– There are 4 people who has been elevated as Judges of Karnataka High Court-
- Shri Anant Ramanath Hegde, who is an Advocate.
- Shri Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha, who is an Advocate.
- Shri Siddaiah Rachaiah, who is an Advocate.
- Smt. Kannankuzhyil Sreedharan Hemalekha, who is an Advocate.
- Calcutta High Court– There are 2 people who has been elevated as Judges of Calcutta High Court:
- Shri Soubhik Mitter, who is an Advocate.
- Collegium in its meeting resolved to reiterate its earlier recommendations for elevation of Shri Sakya Sen, Advocate as Judge in the Calcutta High Court.
- Punjab & Haryana High Court– In the meeting, the Collegium approved the appointment of the following Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in the Punjab & Haryana High Court:
- 1. Mr. Justice Suvir Sehgal,
- Mrs. Justice Alka Sarin,
- Mr. Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri,
- Mr. Justice Ashok Kumar Verma,
- Mr. Justice Sant Parkash,
- Smt. Justice Meenakshi I. Mehta,
- Mr. Justice Karamjit Singh,
- Mr. Justice Vivek Puri,
- Smt. Justice Archana Puri, and
- Mr. Justice Rajesh Bhardwaj.
