The Special Court in Mumbai rejected the Bail of Shiv Sena MP Bhavana Gawali’s aide, Saeed Khan, as the Court held that amount worth Rs 7 crore was missing, since his Trust received Rs 15 crore cash in a span of nine months last year by way of fees paid by the students of 24 educational institutions under its control but the accounts reflected only Rs 8 crore.
It was highlighted that Khan allegedly gave Rs 3.5 crore cash to a hawala operator, who issued a cheque for the same amount and showed it as a loan which was used to purchase an office at Nariman Point which is under Gawali’s control.
Special Judge M G Deshpande stated“There is a clear case to hold that Black Money, rather tainted monies, are tried to be projected as untainted by way of such transactions.”
Furthermore, Judge Deshpande while considering Khan’s previous attack on prosecution witness observed that Bail to such applicants can be a threat to fate of Trial in this case.
Gawali is the Shiv Sena MP from Yavatmal-Washim.
The Directorate of Enforcement(ED) Alleged that the Politician, through Saeed Khan and his Accomplices, had Criminally Conspired to convert the Mahila Utkarsha Pratishthan Trust into a Non-Profit Organisation (company) under Section 8 of the Companies Act through Forgery and Fraud.
Further the ED noted that Gawali got complete control of the Trust after conversion of the NGO to a company and through appointment of Saeed Khan and Gawali’s mother, Shalini, as its Directors.
