The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on a batch of lawsuits demanding an investigation into the Pegasus Spying Scandal until September 13.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, was hearing a series of petitions seeking a Court-monitored or Judicial investigation into reports of activists, journalists, politicians, and constitutional authorities being spied on using Pegasus spyware.
The Solicitor General stated, “There is difficulty with that affidavit. I couldn’t ensure the stand. Please consider accommodating me till the next day.”
The Solicitor General requested to adjourn the matter if the Senior Counsel for the petitioners did not object.
“There is no objection,” said Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who was representing journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar in the case.
Accordingly, the Court adjourned the case until September 13.
The Court is currently reviewing up to 12 petitions, including one from the Editors Guild of India, which is asking for an independent investigation into the case.
