Supreme Court heard a matter in physical Court amid virtual functioning since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.
The matter was listed in the physical Court after the Counsels of both the parties involved in a criminal matter agreed to present their case physically.
The division bench comprising of Justice L. Nageswara Rao and Justice S Ravindra Bhat took up the matter and both the parties appeared physically as per Court’s directions.
The next hearing in the matter, to be held on September 2 will also be conducted in physical mode.
Advocate Rajesh Shrivastava appeared physically for the representation of the case, said that “There is no substitute for the comfort which physical appearance before the Court will give you. It was an emotional moment to be present in the Court in person. I must thank Hon’ble Judges for the opportunity.”
Advocate Rajesh added that “The human touch is an essential part of justice dispensing system and there is no substitute for the same. While one can modulate one’s arguments keeping in view the reaction of the Court, the same is missing in virtual hearings.”
Physical hearing held in the Supreme Court was quite a success considering the unprecedented situation of Covid-19.
