The team of lawyers of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, a member of the British Royal Family, asked a Court on Tuesday, 4 January, to reject a sexual misconduct lawsuit filed against him in the United States by campaigner Virginia Giuffre, according to The Guardian.

His lawyers are anticipated to make an argument before a New York judge that an  agreement between Giuffre and the late Jeffrey Epstein, disclosed on Monday, 3 January, shielded Andrew from legal proceedings.

Andrew is Queen Elizabeth II’s third child with the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Andrew’s team of lawyers will make the argument before Judge Lewis Kaplan on Tuesday that such Case is without validity and should be dismissed.

The video teleconference hearing comes the day after an earlier private 12-page document revealing the terms of Epstein’s $500,000 proposed settlement with Giuffre in 2009 was made public.

The prince’s lawyers are predicted to assert that the agreement means Giuffre has waived his ability to sue anyone associated with Epstein who may be defined as a “prospective defendant.”
