The High Court of Orissa, on 15th September 2021 Wednesday initiated a process for detection of availability of COVID-19 testing facilities in the Rural Areas of the said State.
It was first initiated with Kalahandi and Nabarangpur by assigning the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to find out the ground situation with the help of para Legal workers.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by Sanjiv Joshi seeking court’s intervention for the availability of RT-PCR testing facilities in rural areas throughout the state.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice S. Muralidhar and Justice B.P Routray directed the DLSA, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur secretaries to include five paralegal workers along with a young empanelled lawyer in their respective teams to visit rural areas and find out the ground situation.
The Bench directed the Authorities to submit the reports along with photographs and videos taken by the teams to the secretaries of their respective DLSA by 1st October.
