Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik has approached Bombay High Court to quash the money laundering and Enforcement Case Information Report (FIR) against him and also the Court’s order keeping him in Enforcement Directorate’s Custody till March 3, 2021.
“The Petitioner States that he is not the first to be targeted and this a worrying trend across the Nation where Central agencies are being misused by the Party in Power “ the plea read. He seeks immediate release, a declaration that his arrest was illegal, and the quashing of the ECIR.
Malik claimed he was forcibly picked up from his house on the morning of 23rd February 2022 at 6.00 am without any Summons or Notice under Section 41-A of The Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) being issued to him and thereafter detained in Eds Office.
He alleged that he was served with a Summons while in ED’s custody, asking him to remain present at 8 am.
The Petitioner states that the entire family of the Petitioner including his friends has been probed by respondent no.1 over the last 4 months. However nothing could be found, the plea states.
