On Tuesday the Kerala High Court registered a Suo motu case on crowding at covid-19 vaccination centres in the state and asked the state government for a report on how to prevent it.
The Court stated that if such excessive crowding is allowed, the vaccination drive would become a super spreader rather than preventing the spread of COVID-19.
The Suo motu case was filed after the Court became aware of press stories of people crowding vaccination centres.
The Court acknowledged in its order that the fear of vaccine shortages may be one of the causes of such overcrowding.
Though arraigning the State Health Secretary and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as parties, the Court ordered the State Police to take appropriate steps to ensure there is no overcrowding.
