The Kerala High Court on Tuesday passed a Notification that prompt efforts shall be taken to ensure that the child is provided with a seat in the Government School after her mother alleged that she was being denied Admission.
Justice Raja Vijayaraghava was adjudicating upon a plea filed by the mother of a 17- year-old girl who was a Victim to Sexual Abuse.
The Petitioner alleged that a Government School refused to give admission to her daughter.
Further the Petitioner claimed that shifting to this school was important as the previous school was located near the Accused’s residence.
Furthermore, considering her Daughter’s further studies, the Petitioner applied for transfer admission to the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School.
Advocate R. Gopan representing the Petitioner highlighted that despite of though there were enough vacancies in the School, admission was denied.
Further it came into light that several representations were filed before the Respondents which are still pending.
The Senior Government Pleader noted that the Respondents were taking all solemn efforts to enrol the child in the said school but since there were no vacant seats in the school, measures were being taken to ensure that a seat is provided.
The Court recorded the statement by the Government Pleader and passed a Notification to take immediate measures to get the girl admitted to the school.
The Court posted the Matter for a further Hearing on December 10.
