In the auditorium of the Court’s Additional Building Complex, Chief Justice of India N V Ramana administered the oath of office to new Judges.
Today was the swearing-in ceremony for Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and JB Pardiwala as Supreme Court Judges. With the addition of two Judges, the Supreme Court will begin operating at full strength of 34 Judges today.
Tomorrow Justice Vineet Saran will retire making one vacancy in Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court collegium recommended the elevation of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Jamshed Burjor Pardiwala to the Supreme Court on May 5, 2022.
On May 7th, the Centre announced the appointment of Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Gujarat High Court judge Jamshed Burjor Pardiwala to the Supreme Court.
On July 29, Justice AM Khanwilkar will retire. Chief justice India N V Ramana, Justices Indira Banerjee and UU Lalit will all retire in August, September, and November, respectively.
With the retirements of Justices Vineet Saran and L Nageswara Rao on May 10 and June 7, respectively, the Court is set to see more vacancies soon.
