According to a ruling passed by a California Federal Judge, Alphabet’s Google CEO Sundar Pichai is likely to be questioned for up to two hours in the incognito mode privacy lawsuit.
The lawsuit was apparently filed in June 2020 in which the users accused Google of illegally invading their privacy by keeping a track of their activity even in incognito mode. The latest argument of the Plaintiffs is that the CEO Pichai has ‘unique, personal knowledge’ of issues related to the Chrome browser and privacy concerns.
Although, Google’s spokesperson Jose Castaneda termed the requests as ‘unwarranted and overreaching’. Castaneda further said, “While we strongly dispute the claims in this case, we have cooperated with plaintiffs’ countless requests We will continue to vigorously defend ourselves”.
US Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen in San Jose, California, in her Order, said that few of the documents do establish that relevant information was communicated to and possibly from Pichai. Thus, forming ground for supporting Plaintiff’s request to question him.
An earlier press statement given by Jose Castaneda read, “Incognito mode in Chrome gives you the choice to browse the internet without your activity is saved to your browser or device. As we clearly state each time you open a new incognito tab, websites might be able to collect information about your browsing activity during your session”.
