National Investigation Agency (NIA) earlier this week arrested a girl named Deepthi Marla alias Mariyum on Charges of having alleged links with ISIS from Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada.
This Arrest by NIA has again aroused the controversy over Love Jihad in Karnataka.
The Organisation headed by the Hindus have planned to commence special campaigns and awareness programmes in the coastal Karnataka with the help of retired police officials, religious leaders and advocates in the academic institutions and many other places to spread awareness regarding Love Jihad among the girls.
The head of the Organisation claimed that, “Love Jihad is reality and every day we receive calls from parents of girls who have disappeared.” They further more stated that groups are being formed to prevent Hindu girls from falling into the trap of Love Jihad and also students are being trained for intricate observation in the Academic Institutions for any unusual or suspicious activities in the campus.
The BJP leaders have stated that they have already tabled the Anti-Conversion Bill in the Assembly and now they would put forth a legislation based on Love Jihad also.
This statement from the ruling party leaders has received heavy objection from the state Congress party.
The Hindu girl, Deepthi Marla resident of Kodagu was converted to Islam and got her name changed to Mariyum after love marriage with Anas Abdul Rahman, grandson of Congress’s three-time MLA Late BM Idinabba.
It is alleged that she has developed contacts with the ISIS terrorist and has also reportedly recruited local youths for ISIS.
This incident has shocked the people of the State specifically the communally sensitive Coastal Districts of the Dakshina Kannada, Udipi and Uttara Kannada.
The Hindutva Organisations have been protesting against the Love Jihad and have stated that the Case of Deepthi Marla is biggest example of Love Jihad which showcases how the Hindu girls are being targeted and then trapped in love, marriage and conversion.
However, the Progressive thinkers slam this incident as a mere Hindutva agenda and that the NIA has been receiving the directions from the RSS Headquarters, Nagpur to target the minorities.
