Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh sent to Judicial Custody for two weeks

Prevention Of Money Laundering Court sent the Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in 14 – day Judicial Custody as the Enforcement Directorate did not request for his further Remand linked with multi – crore money laundering case.

Anil Deshmukh was arrested on November 1 by the ED under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).  The former Maharashtra home minister was produced before Special Judge HS Sathbhai, after the end of his ED Custody.

Deshmukh’s Legal team proceeded with a Plea before the Court, demanding to allow him to have home food and medicines in view of his health and age. They also requested for bed facilities as the NCP leader suffers from severe from lower backache and hence he would not be able to sleep on the floor.

The Court has directed the Jail authorities to render him with the bed facilities and permitted him to take the medicines as per prescribed. The Court has reserved his home made food plea. It said that he can approach the Court if he has any complaints regarding the food after some days.

The Enforcement Directorate had initiated this Investigation against Anil Deshmukh and his associates after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Filed FIR against the NCP leader on April 21, 2021 under the Charges of Corruption and exploited his Official position.

The money laundering case against Anil Deshmukh and other was made after the CBI charged him under corruption case linked to the Allegations of at least 100 crore briberies made by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and 4.70 crore from various bars and restaurants in Mumbai through dismissed police officer Sachin Waze.
